An educational trip to Chandigarh, Amritsar & Jalandhar was organised for the students of Classes VI to VIII from 2ndOctober’ 2022 to 9th October’ 2022. It aimed at apprising the students with the culture and history of Chandigarh, Amritsar & Jalandhar.
The trip covered landmarks relevant to the culture and the independence movement of India. They visited Rock garden, Rose Garden & Chhatbir Zoo.
The visit to the iconic Nek Chand Rock Garden where our enthusiastic travellers got mesmerized to see the beautiful sculptures and the art pieces made of scrap and waste materials. The Deer Safari at the Chattbir Zoo was a visual treat for them as they got to see a herd of deer at leisure. They were spellbound by the majestic walk of the Asiatic Lion and Royal Bengal Tiger and mesmerized to see variety of birds, mammals and reptiles.
Post lunch the students were taken to the Rose Garden. In the evening the children had a brief shopping break at the popular Elante Mall where they bought little trinkets and other gift items for their loved ones.
The students got to witness the mesmerising appearance and the rich history of The Golden Temple in Amritsar and were also familiarised with the religious importance of the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy book of the Sikhs. This was followed by a visit to Jallianwala Bagh. The students got a vivid narration of the open fire at the order of General Dyer on an unarmed crowd assembled in the park in 1919. The students were also taken to Attari Border,where they got to watch the armed soldiers on the border.
The students enjoyed every branch of science exhibited in the Science City, Jalandhar right from physical, applied, natural and social sciences, engineering, technology, agriculture, health sciences, energy, industries, human evolution and civilization, the environment and ecosystems. They were amazed to see the real life experiences of science. They also enjoyed watching the visually stunning 3-D shows, laser show and a special show in the dome-shaped theater. It was a great experience for the students to be able to go beyond what they had been learning in textbooks and helped them gain a new perspective towards the history of Indian Independence. All in all, it was a perfect blend of fun and learning, and a very enriching experience for all the students.
